Which Hotel Is Best

Arabella Sheraton Hotel, Foreshore, Cape Town CBD

This is German run efficiency. One of the top hotels in Cape Town, a favourite for big tour groups, corporate conferences and rich tourists. I did notice that the plants in the toilets were plastic, which one wouldn't really expect from a hotel of this calibre. It is situated right next door to the Cape Town International Convention Centre, which is convenient and probably accounts for the business-like atmosphere that the place tends to exude. Check out the pic of the building itself on my Cape Town Best Pics Gallery. Yes, it's the shiny glass building. I'll try to get some photos of the inside. It's impressive and modern, but having worked there a bit, I can assure you that the venier wears off pretty quickly... but isn't that true for most hotels?

Vineyard Hotel, Newlands/Claremont

This is a lovely hotel with a lot of character. Situated about 10 km out of Cape Town, it is close to Cavendish Square, Cape Town's premier boutique shopping centre. You'll also find yourself conveniently close to Newlands Cricket and Rugby Stadiums if you are a sporting fan.

Cape Town Holday Inn

Another Cape Town CBD Hotel, this one used to be the pride of Cape Town.. That was a good couple of years ago. The style is just slightly dated, but nothing serious. It has glass lifts and is around 20 stories, so if you can, get a room on a floor high up, the views are awesome. Food is good too.

Woodstock Holiday Inn

This one is peculiar, as it's in the middle of Woodstock, a working class area with a crime problem. On the upside, there are good views of the harbour, but your are slightly out of the way (about 5 minutes from downtown by car).
