Welcome to my Cape Town Strand Beach Photo Gallery!
Strand has been hailed by some as the Rio of Cape Town - in this photo gallery I will show you why investors, holiday makers, sun seekers and young couples and families are flocking to Strand in droves. This is more than a trend - at present, there are at least half a dozen new beachfront apartment blocks in development, a couple of newly completed ones, and more in the pipeline. With a bit of imagination, it is not very difficult then to see how the name "The Rio of Cape Town" came to be.
Situated at in the middle of False Bay, the warm (mostly) Indian Ocean makes for great swimming and surfing, what really differentiates Strand Beach from dozens of other world-class beaches which adorn the Cape Peninsula are the kilometers of snow-white sand beach. The beach is lined with a promenade with a variety of Apartment Blocks, some dating back to the 50s or earlier, as well as some newer ones.
All of the photos in this gallery were taken in the middle of winter. In summer, the village is transformed into one of Cape Town's top beach vacation areas. Thousands of tourists flock to the white beaches from Johannesburg and increasingly from other parts of the world.
While the jury is still out regarding exactly how Strand will look 5 or 10 years down the line, currently there is no doubt that it is in the midst of an exciting boom phase, which can ultimately only be a good thing for a country such as South Africa, which increasingly relies on tourist revenue to facilitate economic growth and development.
